What Is "Event
Sponsoring"?
Event Sponsoring is a new strategy we are trying to promote to help
the active chapter gain major corporate or business sponsorships for their philanthropic
events through their connections with the chapter's alumni. These annual events,
such as Hoops For Kids, raise money for various charities and are typically some
of the largest, most high exposure events on campus.
What Does This Require?
That depends, your company can provide financial backing or material support
to cover the overhead and promotional costs for the events, or donate directly to
the charity in the name of the event.
What's In It For Me/My Company?
Great question, and the answer is.... a lot. James Madison University
is currently home to 16,000 students aged 18 to 26, one of the most targeted and
sought after demographic markets in the world. For that very reason, James Madison's
governing body does not allow outside companies to come onto campus to advertise
their products and services to students. A condition exists however, in that a sponsoring
company or business may cooperate with a student organization/fraternity to have
a presence on campus while the event is underway. That's where your direct affiliation
with Sigma Nu comes in. By becoming a major sponsor for an event such as Hoops For
Kids, your company can get its name and message out to over 16,000 students, most
of whom live in the Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland, and New Jersey regions.
