2nd Annual Alumni Golf Tournament A Success!
(04/26/2005)
Special thanks to everyone who came out despite the weather forecast to play in the 2nd Annual Serpent Classic Alumni Golf Tournament! The weather actually held out and it turned out to be a beautiful day at Virginia Oaks. The 40 players in attendance took to the course at 1:30 PM and completed the Tournament in roughly 5 hours. At the conclusion of the event awards were presented to the winning team, there was a badge ruling put into effect to break the tie for second place, closest to the pin awards were given out and the most "honest" team (last place) improved their score substantially over last year. The awards were presented by the beautiful Lindsay Williams, which some of you may recognize from Playboy's College Edition and various other modelling endeavours in the Metro DC area. We will have photos up very soon as well as the full breakdown of scores and awards. If you played in the tournament and have photos, please email them to alumni@sigmanu188.com ! Also please mark your calendars, next year's tournament will be held Saturday, May 13th 2006 at the challenging Stoneleigh Course in beautiful Round Hill, VA (just minutes from Leesburg and Winchester). Early signups will begin soon! Alumnui Golf

Alumnus Clay Robblee racing to save lives for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with "Team In Training" June 5th in San Diego, CA.
(04/01/2005)
Clay Robblee (Iota Delta 460) For some of you who may not know Clay (ID 460) very well, this may be a shock....and for those of you who know him well, this may be yet another example of how Clay has gone "just a little bit more insane". Either way, the physical and mental commitment that Iota Delta Alumnus Clay Robblee has recently made toward raising support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma society is undeniable. On Sunday, June 5th in San Diego... Clay, along with other participants in the Team In Training program will set out to run the 2005 Rock & Roll Marathon. Established in 1988, the Team In Training program is to designed to help endurance athletes train and collect donations to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, a very worthy cause where at minimum 75% of all donations go directly towards finding a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, and Myeloma as well as improving the quality of life for those stricken with these illnesses. Many Iota Delta Alumni have already pledged a great deal of support to help Clay on his mission to raise $7500. If you would like to donate to a very worthy cause, as well as help out a fellow alumnus in his efforts to help others, please view Clay's website for all the details on how you can help out. JMU DUKES WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
Congratulations to Sigma Nu's own Anderson Braswell, member of the 2004 Dukes Championship Football Team.

(12/18/2004)
A feat never before achieved, not only by the JMU football team, but by ANY team from Virginia. With a 31-21 win over the Montana Grizzlies Friday night at Finley Stadium/Davenport Field the Dukes wrote themselves into the history books in more ways than one. JMU is the first team ever to win four playoff road games and they are also the first school from Virginia to win a national championship in football at any level. But most importantly, this is the first national football title in the history of JMU's 33-year Football program. About 10-20 Sigma Nu actives and alumni made the drive to Chattanooga to witness this victory and to cheer Fans Rush the Field on our own Anderson Braswell (pictured above) who only one year ago transferred to JMU and to our chapter as a sophomore from the Lamda chapter of Sigma Nu at Washington and Lee University. Back on the homefront, JMU & Sigma Nu Alumni and Actives gathered at bars all across the DC Metro area in record numbers to cheer on their Dukes. Sigma Nu Alumnus Brian Shanley (ID 569) stated that he had never seen a crowd as large as the one he saw turn out to cheer on the Dukes Friday night at Baileys Bar/Grill in Arlington, VA where it was standing room only and packed wall to wall with fans. Congratulations Anderson and to all of the 2004 Dukes team and fans!

Homecoming 2004 A Great Time For All!
(11/01/2004)
Homecoming 2004 went off without a hitch and was a great success. Thanks goes out to every one of our alumni who made this weekend possible. The active chapter repeatedly pulled myself and other alumni aside to thank us for offering to financially support this weekend's festivities. We had a great showing by Alumni from the 200-300 badge range, as well as alumni coming back from many many other years as well. Photos will be posted here very soon.

Help Us Support Homecoming 2004 !
(08/26/2004)
Hard to believe but Fall is just around the corner and with that brings Homecoming Weekend at JMU! This year's Homecoming is set for October 29-31 and promises to be one of the best yet ( Click Here For Details ). This year, the alumni chapter is making our first major effort of assistance to the active chapter by accepting donations to financially support our Homecoming weekend festivities. This means we as an alumni chapter need to collectively gather about $1000 to $1200 by October 01, 2004. The reason for this effort is to relieve the financial strain Homecoming puts on the Active chapter at the same time of year National's Dues and FIPG Insurance payments are due (Roughly $6000 in outgoing bills!). Also, with the financial relief, the Active chapter has the ability to make a large payment on their back debt to Insurance and JMU, something they have been trying but unable to do in the past. As an alumni chapter we do not have dues, we feel there should be no active/inactive status for those who do/dont pay dues, everyone deserves the ability to stay in touch and to enjoy events such as the Golf Tourney and Homecoming; all we ask is that if you will be attending Homecoming, or would simply like to donate something to help out, any amount goes a very long way and is greatly appreciated. Simply Click Here for ways you can donate.

Special Thanks to all those who have already pledged their support!
( We are currently ( 10/20/2004 ) at 115% of our goal of $1000, Help Out Today!)

The fall will kick off with an August Newsletter welcoming everyone back, updating you on the latest news, and giving details about our Fall happy hour in Arlington, VA (being set up in the coming weeks). Stay tuned for more details in the August Newsletter.

First Annual Sigma Nu Alumni Golf Tournament
(04/26/2004)
This past April, the First Annual Sigma Nu Alumni Golf Tournament was held at Bristow Manor Country Club. The weather was perfect and the 31 Alumni, Actives, and friends in attendance all Tee'd off at 1 PM. "Survival Kits" filled with our old friends Jim Beam and Bacardi were distributed to help pass the time between fairways. Everyone seemed to have a great time and I think we are all looking forward to next year's tournament which promises to be bigger and better now that I have learned a few valuable lessons about setting one of these events up. Keep an eye out in the coming months for announcements about the next tournament when the Alumni Newsletters start up again in August. Hope to see everyone out there again next year!

Recently, we were contacted by Iota Delta alumnus Dan Weiner regarding financial support for the operations of the Alumni Chapter. Dan has graciously offered to pledge a set dollar amount to the alumni chapter for each home sale that goes to closure. This donation will be made any time an alumni either uses Dan's services as a realitor or refers someone to him. If you are interested, contact Dan Weiner at Remax Premier of Chantilly, VA.
