Sigma Nu Announces New Advisors
The brothers of the Iota Delta Chapter are excited to announce our new team of advisors.
Alumni Advisor: Glenn Forman
Glenn Forman was Initiated as ID 173 in the spring of 1980. Presently, he is a Partner with McKinsey & Company, an international management consultancy, where he leads the firm's business research, quantitative analytics and knowledge management functions. He received a BS in Economics from JMU in 1982 and a Masters in Economics and Finance from the Pennsylvania State University in 1984. He has held a variety of roles with public corporations (NCR, Conrail), a not-for-profit (The Conference Board), an economic forecasting and consulting firm (Wharton Econometrics) and academia (8 years as an adjunct Professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania). Glenn lives with his wife, Leslee, and their three children -- Faith (5), Alyssa (3) and Graham (10 months) near Lancaster, PA.
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Cara Meixner
Cara Meixner has returned to James Madison University as Faculty Consultant to the Center for Faculty Innovation (CFI) and Assistant Professor of Graduate Psychology. Cara received her BS in Health Services Administration from Madison, her MA in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Maryland-College Park, and her PhD in Leadership & Change from Antioch University. In addition to directing a leadership and involvement center, Cara has taught courses in leadership, organizational behavior, hunger and homelessness, and women's studies. She has a penchant for qualitative research and enjoys contributing to the local and global communities through service-learning, participatory action research, and international field work. She and her husband, James Guest, are independent and foreign film lovers, restaurant connoisseurs, and avid hikers.
The Chapter would also like to recognize brother Russ Hammond ID 563 from our headquarters staff for his ongoing support.
Commander, Lt. Commander Awarded at Excellence Awards
This past February, two Iota Delta's were awarded with a couple of James Madison's Fraternity and Sorority Life's highest individual awards at the Excellence Awards Dinner.
Commander Matt Alcide was awarded as the "Outstanding Executive of the Year" with his involvement in his own chapter, as well as his avid participation within the entire Greek Community.
Former Lt. Commander Brian Higgins was recognized as the "Outstanding Senior of the Year" for his active and unparalleled participation and leadership for all four of his college years.
Sigma Nu took two of the five individual awards and was also recognized for excelling in the areas of Campus Relations and External Relations.
Greek Sing
Sigma Nu finished in 3rd place overall for Greek Week 2008 thanks to an amazing 2nd place performance in Greek Sing with their incredible "80s, 90s, and Today" Theme- watch the video below.
White Rose Formal - April 4th - 5th
This year's White Rose formal is taking place in Arlington, Virginia at the Sheraton Crystal City Hotel on April 4th and 5th. It will begin at 6PM, and we have the ballroom booked until midnight. The pricing for the event which includes food, room rental and open bar is $125 per person. If you are looking to book a room and stay the night at the hotel, the price will be $135 per night. We have a block of rooms reserved for us, so if you choose to spend the night make sure you notify the hotel you will be doing so under Sigma Nu/Nick Barash (White Rose Chairman). These rooms must be booked by February 26th, or we will lose the reserved spots.

Iota Delta Receives High GPA for Fall 2007
The Iota Delta Chapter received a 2.97 GPA for this past semester. The JMU all-fraternity average was 2.88. Well done, Iota Delta
Alumni Project Underway!
(8/7/2007) The Active Chapter has re-committed itself in strengthening the bond between the alumni and the active chapter. The chapter plans on building a strong relationship and hopes that the alumni are able to see the great things the chapter is doing. In hopes of sending alumni publications and organizing reunions, an Alumni Committee was formed to contact each alumnus. The Chapter has started to contact only those with e-mail address posted in the alumni directory, listed on the Alumni Chapter website.

Iota Delta Summer Internships
(7/17/2007) Over the summer, many Iota Delta's worked as interns in various firms along the East coast. Here is a list of those who have interned this summer:
Matt Alcide, New York City Law Department -- Matt interns in the Operations Division at the New York City Law Department in Downtown Manhattan, one of the countries largest public law firms. Working with many different aspects of law, Matt hopes to learn more and may pursue a career in law.
Alex Bailey, Pilgrim Insurance Company -- Alex is interning in Boston, MA with the Pilgrim Insurance Company, a division of Plymoth Rock Assurance Company. He works in the underwriting department assisting the underwriting supervisor.
Mike Buonocore, Bank of New York -- Interning as a accountant in Brooklyn, NY, Mike's job is to investigate the share differences in what the accounting and custody side of security trading are holding. In addition, he handles tax reclaims for the company.
Drew Hewitt, KPMG Audit -- Interning in Norfolk, VA, Drew works with a Big Four Accounting Firm, where he helped in the audit of 10Q financial statements. He plans on having a career in finance someday.
Brian Higgins, ICAP -- Brian is interning for the world's largest inter-dealer broker, ICAP. He currently is working on the Emerging Markets, FX Options Desk to evaluate the trading options on the the volatility of the currencies of Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina. He plans on working in finance in any capacity possible, but wants to work in trading and investment banking.
James Knoblach, Dreyfus -- Jim works for Dreyfus Brokerage Services, a division of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation in New York as a 10 week intern. Daily he engages in trading and the operations aspect of the stock market and investment securities. He also participates in multiple projects headed by his managers where he gets to produce new and improve upon products offered by Dreyfus.
Ryan Middleton, Department of Criminal Justice Services of Virginia, School Safety Division. Ryan planed and coordinated YADAPP, a conference that is designed to empower teenagers and the members of the high school community that they are a part of to combat underage drinking and drug use in the their own communities. Athan Papas, South Wind Management -- Interning at Spinnkar Resort and Timeshares in Hilton Head, SC, Athan works on the Activities and Recreation Staff. He hopes to someday return to Hilton Head in the Resort business.
Adam Schiff, MKTG Partners -- Adam is a production intern in a firm that specializes in entertainment, sports events, and promotions in Midtown Manhattan.
Nathan Smith, Telemedia Productions & Cavalier Films -- He worked as a production assistant for Telemedia Productions in Harrisonburg working on TV commercials, corporate videos, and JMU Sports shows and highlights. He also interned on a feature length film shoot in Staunton, Virginia as a production designer for Cavalier Films. The production was entitled, "Familiar Strangers," starring Shawn Hatosy, DJ Qualls, and Cameron Richardson.
AJ Witowski, J&S Networks -- Located in Manassas, VA J&S Networks is a company that specializes in the installation and repair of computer, phone and television networks as well computer setup and repair. AJ works as a Network Technician and is the assistant to the company owner and senior technician.
Matt Witt, Comcast SportsNet -- Located in Bethesda, MD, Matt interns for Comcast SportsNet in hopes of starting a possible career in Sports Media or Sports Management. He is also working with the United States Department of Labor.
